MiscellaneousSchubert Museum, Wien 3 guides (different versions, one including handwritten corrections from Otto Erich Deutsch, and another the new edition with the changes), 1 Museum Catalog (in German, with a dedication from Reinhard van Hoorickx), 5 English language commemorative booklets. Catalog Raisonné of Schubert Songs in 4 ring binders. A forerunner of John Reed's Schubert Song companion though whether this was work in progress for a new book, or merely for MJEB's own reference is unclear. It gives various details of each song, but no critical analysis. It gives full details of the known history of the autographs (e.g. Adelwold und Emma, D211 5-14 June 1814 was with Ferdinand Schubert in 1828, went to Diabelli in 1830, CA Spina [Diabelli's successor] in 1865, Nicolaus Dumba in 1890, and thence to the Stadtbibliothek in Vienna in 1901). The catalogue is typewritten, and from the look of the typefaces and paper, was written in alphabetical order. There are some marginal notes by MJEB in pencil, and, from time to time, in John Reed's distinctive script in blue ink. Chopin A Box of Miscellaneous correspondence from various sources and notes. (MJEB published a book in 1960 entitled Chopin: An index of His Works in Chronological Order). Essays on Schubert A folder of correspondence from Macmillans, and various other documents, newspaper cuttings, etc. There's a detailed review of this elsewhere. |
