Correspondence
The collection contains a great deal of correspondence to MJEB, with
some drafts or copies of letters from MJEB to other people, much of
which will be of enormous interest to the scholar. There are also some
letters passed onto MJEB by others, particularly Otto Erich Deutsch
(OED). It appears that MJEB was quite methodical in filing all his
Schubert (and Chopin) oriented correspondence, even down to trivial
items (e.g. postcards from OED acknowledging but not replying to a
letter, or envelopes from OED with last minute scribbles).
Within the collection are large quantities of correspondence from
other Schubert collectors or scholars, including:
- Otto Erich
Deutsch - 738 letters
- Walther Dürr (Neue Schubert Ausgabe) - 34 Letters
- Walther Dürr (International Schubert Gesellschaft) -

- Ignaz Weinmann - 26 Letters
