Introduction
Welcome to the Web pages of the Schubert Institute (UK) (SIUK). The Institute is a UK-based charity. Its purpose is to promote and develop appreciation of the music of Franz Schubert and study of and research into his life and works. As a charity, it is a non-profit-making organisation which depends upon the efforts and enthusiasm of its members and officers in spreading the word.
The purpose of this web site is to promote the institute amongst prospective members, to provide a central point of access to information on the Web about Franz Schubert, and to provide the merely curious with a few facts about his life and works. For general information about the institute, please e-mail our Hon Secretary, Thea Morris.
We are always keen to enrol new members for their subscriptions help to fund the various activities of the institute, and their enthusiasms and insights enrich all other members.
We welcome feedback about the contents of these pages. We would particularly welcome potential contributions, details of errors and omissions and information on other Web sites which may be of interest to the Schubert fan or scholar. You are very welcome to provide information, articles, reviews, etc., for the site, even if you are not a member of the institute. If you have any suggestions, or want further information about any item in these pages, please send an e-mail to Crawford Howie at info@FranzSchubert.org.uk.
